WINTER OAK FARM
Ocala, Florida
ABOUT
Winter Oak Farm is owned & managed by a professional horseman, John Ducharme. John has worked in the Thoroughbred & Hunter Jumper industries for over 35 years. Experienced in managing a facility and strings of horses, it was a natural next step in John's career to put that experience to use by running his own farm.
Ideals: Safety, consistency, ease of use, & enjoyment of your horses.
First and foremost, a facility must be safe for horses and riders. Footing, fencing, stalls & riding areas must be maintained and in suitable condition at all times. The horses should be able to depend on their environment, period. Consistent. All stalls are rubber matted with waterers, fans and feed troughs. Arenas are groomed daily by a professional. Fencing is 4 board with no climb. Paddocks have alleys to keep the horses out of trouble. Additionally, the entire farm is fenced. Security cameras monitor the facility at all times.
A facility should be easy to use, with location of amenities and proximity to all needs close at hand. Winter Oak farm has the ideal layout – with 2 barns flanking the arena, and jump fields an easy walk out as well as the round pen . Paddocks for turn out are close at hand, with a number to choose from – each providing water and run in sheds for hot days. There are also plenty of fenced oak trees in each paddock – providing more shade.
There are two wash racks with hot and cold water. Shavings bins are at the end of each barn. Feed rooms can be set up as requested with room for hay and grain bins.
